INTRODUCTION

Robert Winokur is an American
ceramic artist who was born in Decemeber 24, 1933, Brooklyn, N.Y. In
1956 he got his B.F.A. at Tyler School of Art, Temple University.
Philadelphia, PA, and in 1958 he got his M.F.A.at New York State
College of Ceramics, Alfred, N.Y. He has received many awards, such
as National Endowment for the Arts. Visual Artists Fellowship,
(1979); Fellow of the National Council on Education in the Ceramic
Arts (1983); Pennsylvania Council on The Arts, Fellowship in Crafts,
(1988); East and West II. Symposium on Contemporary Ceramic Art. The
International Ceramic Studio. Kecskemet, Hungary (1993); Invited to
participate in The First Yixing International Ceramic Art Conference
by The Peoples Republic of China and a month long visit to major
ceramic centers, collections and Museums (1998); Inducted into The
American Craft Council, College of Fellows (2002)Pennsylvania
Council on The Arts, Fellowship in Crafts (2003). His works have
been exhibited in many places all over the world, such as Tokyo,
Japan; Jingdezhen, China and Texas, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania,
USA. Many organizations over the world have his works in collection,
such as The International Ceramic Studio. Kecskemet, Hungary; The
San Bao International Work Village and the Ceramic Art Institute,
Jingdezhen, People’s Republic of China; Museum Boymans-Van Beuningen,
Rotterdam. The Netherlands; IAC, Geneva, the Switzerland; The Nickle
Arts Museum, The University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, The
Contemporary Museum, Honolulu, HI; and so on.
