In the Chinese culture, the aesthetical properties are
characterized by their pursuit of the distinct
delicacy, exquisiteness and implicitness by means of artistic
expressions full of symbolic and metaphoric meanings so as
to reach the spiritual world of extensiveness and
profundity. Therefore , such properties have already
constituted the profound composition of aesthetical
psychology of the Chinese people, cultivated by their
cultural traditions which have been continuing its existence
for thousands of years. Such an "ethnic culture complex" is
unique and unchangeable as the Chinese people have been
continuing to attach great importance to the aesthetical
pleasures and relative forms and disciplines gradually
developed from the profundity of the traditional cultures
even today when the time has seen the rapid development of
science and technology ,the swift blending of multiple
cultures and especially the special emphasis upon the spirit
of individual freedom . Whatever happens, what needs to be
done is how to render the contemporary meanings to the
cultural traditions for the purpose of fuller development
and broader expansion of their spiritual connotation and relative disciplines and forms. Based upon such an
understanding, an aesthetical form with visual pleasures in
any art work , in my artistic ideas ,should surpass the
metaphors , explanations and implicit meanings of any
so-called "profound theory" in the work and such an
aesthetical from should be of the
exploratory and innovative nature. Thus, my mind has been
wholly concentrated on my exploration, discovery and mastery
of the beauty in the delicacy and exquisiteness of the clay
and magic glamour of fire by different means of tools,
materials, textures, colors and forms. And, meanwhile, I
have found pleasures and freedom in giving my works some
meaning. The visual pleasure constitutes the foundation of
the works, from which I have tried to pursue a lyrical
romance and gracefulness. In such a working circumstance,
such elements as forms, textures, colors and expansion of
spaces of my works embody the natural formation of the
spirit in the subject. The monologue of the mind, great
longing for the beauty, yearning desire for freedom, the
heart shaking power of the art ,are fully demonstrated as
different factors of the form of the works, This is a
working process of an outburst of enthusiasm and
sober-minded thinking. What I have been dreaming of and
pursuing is an aspiration to demonstrate the process of
development of human mentality and thinking from the time
immemorial, to reflect the past glory in the description of
desolateness, to seek the significance within a full
comprehension, introspection and promotion of the Oriental
civilization and to try all the efforts to give the works a
contemporary meaning beyond the "Orient Complex". |
