There appears an alienation between the
traditional ceramic art and the contemporary one in regard of
the form of spaces, which has already become both a natural
reaction to the pluralism of cultures in the contemporary
society and a reconsideration of the nature and values of the
ceramics. As for
ceramic artists, it seems to be more interesting to find
something new purposely than to create anything in his process
of working.
The contemporary ceramic creation. as a matter of fact, is a
subconscious game of collision between "clay" and "fire".
Therefore, making of ceramics needs no preplanning. The "whole
process" is no other than the best demonstration. It is very
important that the artist have ease of mind when making
ceramics.
There is no bounds of exterior forms of expression which
reflects the course of mind when a ceramic artist works with
clay. It is not necessary for us to force clay, glazes and fires
to act as expected. Instead, we should try to set up a good
relationship with them and take good command of each favourable
opportunity to turn them to advantage. This is what I have in my
inner world when working with clay.
