Teresa Girones is an expert Potter. She has a lot of experience
with the treatment of different clays and the fire, the shapes and
the textures. The Potter's clay used on monochrome figures made of
white clay helps us to cross a private world, the magic of the
childhood memories, the magic of the ancient times, the magic of
the occulted symbol and forgotten secrets.
Teresa Girones is a potter who lives in Barcelona, Catalonina.
It's a beautiful city with a long tradition, history and art. Her
studio is situated in Gracia, a very interesting old area that
attracts a lot of visitors. Her studio is a very quiet place.
She also works as a teacher in the official school of design
the "Liotja", in Barcelona. For many years, she has been president
of the Potters Association of Catalonia, which has more than three
hundred partners. She has a teaching certificate given by
president of the Generalitat of Catalonia, the local government.
This work represents something very important. This work
represents something very important for her because the spreading
of the ceramics and her instruction is essential in her life.
Her artistic work has been shown in a number of exhibitions,
such as England, France, North America, South America ,Germany and
Switzerland. Initially she was from a pictoric background but when
she discovered ceramics, a world of shape and color, it meant for
her the beginning or a new means or expression which she has never
left behind during more than twenty years. The photograph using
the silkscreen method produces in her work an excellent pictorial
quality and strong expressiveness. She is an original artist both
non the modeling side and in the teaching of ceramics.
Painting, in the Spanish society, is valued as a single art
and tries to open new paths through different areas such as
ceramics, a hard task which many times is due to lack of
understanding. However, Spain has a lot of well-known
international potters such as Caudi Casavovas, Arcadi Blasco,
Enric Mestre Estelles, Madola, Maria Bofill, Barba Foromasa,
Carrillo and so on . Many of them, like Teresa Girones also teach.
Teresa Girones has received recognition for her artistic
workshop and for her profession . Two unique aspects define her
work, the a esthetic outlook with her creative nature and her
great capacity for work.
She has worked for thirty years as a painter and potter and
she has achieved the most difficult aspect: artistic plenitude.
She has created her own langrage based always on the human being,
figurative word with its own style. Her favourite collections of
themes, human children and pets, are represented in an ironic or
in a tender way, creating a deep or transitory link between the
protagonists. Sculpture, in the formal sense, gives way to
kinds of feelings that give the work a quality far from the pure
anecdote.
Every work of Teresa Girones represents a material
macrocosm, full of textures, colors scheme, symbolism and
